In an effort to help reduce paper waste, BSI Online, the first-ever online backflow tracking program, is now available to all municipalities looking towards a brighter future for our planet. While BSI primarily deals with protecting a municipal water supply; we realize all of our natural resources are important.
The traditional backflow tracking program uses an excessive amount of paper. Paper is used for annual
test
notices, non-compliance notifications, multiple copies of test reports, and so on. In fact, the average backflow assembly requires about 14 pieces of paper per year to track. Add that all up for each and every assembly in your system and you have a lot of trees disappearing to protect your water.
At BSI, we feel there is a better way.
Through the use of BSI Online, we are able to dramatically reduce the amount of paper needed to run your backflow program.
Here's how:
- Notifications: with BSI Online, all notifications (with the exception of 2 testing notices sent to water customers) are sent via e-mail. Less paper wasted on multiple letters and envelopes.
- Test Reports: With BSI Online, all test reports are entered via the internet. That means no more excess copies of test reports being mailed and faxed.

The end result- Same protection of your water, but with less paper waste.
Not all paper waste can be eliminated, but every bit helps. BSI understands this, and will continue to work towards a healthier earth.
